Control Notetaker during a meeting

How to stop, remove, or control Notetaker during a live meeting, including using commands in the meeting chat.

You can control Notetaker at any time during a live meeting. This includes stopping recording, removing Notetaker, or inviting it manually. All participants, not just hosts, have control, so meetings remain flexible and private when needed.

Invite Notetaker manually

If Notetaker isn't set to join automatically, you can add it yourself:

  1. Go to Dashboard → Notetaker → Upcoming

  2. Toggle the button next to the meeting to Joining

Notetaker will join using the meeting link in the event.

Stop Notetaker using in-meeting chat

You can stop or pause Notetaker instantly from inside the meeting, without going back to your Dashboard.

To stop recording completely

  1. Open the meeting's chat

  2. Type: @fyxer stop

  3. Click send

The Notetaker will immediately:

  • Stop recording

  • End transcription

  • Leave the meeting

If you just want to pause recording, follow the same steps but type @fyxer pause, followed by @fyxer resume when you're ready to start recording again.

Who can use these commands?

Any participant, not just the host. This ensures anyone can protect confidentiality during sensitive or private discussions.

The in-meeting chat commands only work for:

  • Newly created meetings

  • Recurring meetings created after the feature was released

If a recurring meeting was created before this feature existed, you will need to recreate it to enable chat commands.

Remove Notetaker from the participant list

If you prefer to remove Notetaker directly from Zoom, Teams, or Google Meet:

  1. Open the participant list

  2. Select Notetaker

  3. Click Remove

Removing Notetaker ends all recording and transcription for the rest of the call.

Disable Notetaker mid-meeting (Dashboard control)

You can also stop Notetaker from the Dashboard.

How to disable it:

  1. Go to Dashboard → Notetaker → Upcoming

  2. Toggle the button next to the active meeting to Off

What happens after you stop Notetaker

Once Notetaker stops using the methods above, Fyxer will still generate:

  • Any available recording (up to the moment it stopped)

  • A partial or full transcript

  • A summary based only on the portion captured

All materials appear in: Dashboard → Notetaker → Recorded.
