How Fyxer AI organizes your Gmail with labels

Updated this week

Fyxer AI helps you focus on what matters by applying one smart label per email, cutting down inbox clutter and making it easier to scan priorities.

How Labels Work in Gmail

  • Fyxer assigns a single label based on priority, such as:

    • 1: To Respond – needs action

    • 2: FYI – informational

    • 6: Awaiting Reply – waiting for your response

While Gmail supports multiple labels, Fyxer always applies one - the best fit - to keep things simple and prevent overlap.

Where Emails Land (Inbox vs. Labels)

You decide if labeled emails stay in your inbox or get filed away:

  1. Go to Categorization Settings

  2. For each category, choose:

    • Checked → email skips the inbox and lives only in the label

    • Unchecked → email stays in your inbox with the label

💡 Tip: Want less clutter in your inbox? Try checking most categories so those emails go straight into their folder.

Troubleshooting Label Issues

If emails aren’t showing up as expected:

  1. Check your settings

    • Go to Categorization Settings and review which boxes are checked/unchecked.

  2. Confirm Gmail is connected

    • Go to Settings > Integrations in your dashboard.

    • If Gmail isn’t showing as Connected, disconnect and reconnect with permissions enabled.

  3. Search by label in Gmail

    • Use queries like label:1: To Respond to track down emails.

  4. Adjust Conversation View
    • If threads look incomplete, try toggling Gmail’s Conversation View OFF temporarily to uncover hidden messages.

Make sure Conversation View is turned ON in Gmail.

  • Without Conversation View, emails in the same thread won’t appear grouped together.

  • This can make Fyxer’s categories look inconsistent, since you’ll see “split” emails across labels.

  • Turning it on ensures every conversation stays together

Special Gmail Behaviors

  • Deleted threads: Gmail moves them to Trash (a label) for 30 days. If someone replies before permanent deletion, Gmail reactivates the thread and Fyxer re-labels it correctly.

  • Why one label only: Keeps your workflow clear - less decision fatigue, faster triage, and fewer overlaps.

Quick Setup

  1. Go to Categorization Settings.

  2. For each category, tick or untick depending on whether you want emails to move or stay in your inbox.

  3. Click Update Preferences to save.
