Fyxer gives you two ways to record meetings:
Visible recording (Bot Mode)
Invisible recording (Desktop App Mode)
This article explains the difference, how to choose the right mode, and what changes when you switch.
The Two Recording Modes
Visible Mode (Meeting Bot Recording)
In Visible Mode, the Fyxer Notetaker joins meetings as a participant.
Best for:
Scheduled Zoom / Google Meet / Teams calls
Customer calls where recording is expected
Users who want the traditional bot workflow
What happens:
The bot appears in the participant list
Meeting summaries and transcripts are generated automatically
Recording happens through the meeting platform
Invisible Mode (Desktop App Recording Only)
In Invisible Mode, the Notetaker bot is fully disabled.
Instead, the Desktop App records meetings quietly from your computer.
Best for:
Sensitive or client-facing conversations where bots feel intrusive
In-person meetings
Users who want a seamless background workflow
What happens:
No bot joins the call
Recording happens locally through the Desktop App
Meetings are captured without appearing in the attendee list
Important: You Can’t Run Both at the Same Time
Fyxer supports one recording method at a time.
Visible Mode = Bot enabled
Invisible Mode = Bot disabled, Desktop App only
You cannot have both recording methods active simultaneously.
Using the Desktop App for In-Person Meetings
Even if you use Visible Mode for remote calls, you can still use the Desktop App manually for ad-hoc in-person meetings.
Example:
Zoom calls → recorded with the bot
In-person meeting → recorded with Desktop App (“New Meeting → In Person”)
This is the most common hybrid workflow.
How to Switch Modes
Open your Fyxer Notetaker Desktop app
Go to Settings
Choose your recording mode:
Visible (Show on the call) or Invisible (Run in the background)
Changes are automatically saved and apply immediately going forward.
Which Mode Should I Use?
Use case | Best Mode |
Sales or customer calls | Visible Mode |
Sensitive conversations | Invisible Mode |
In-person meetings | Invisible Mode |
Teams that expect a bot | Visible Mode |
Users who want zero disruption | Invisible Mode |
Troubleshooting Tip
If your Desktop App isn’t recording, check that you haven’t left the bot enabled.
Invisible recording only works when:
Bot auto-join is disabled
Desktop Mode is selected
