Why didn't the Notetaker desktop app record my meeting?

If a meeting didn't record, it's usually due to one of these common causes.

Updated over a month ago

The desktop app records audio from your device's microphone while you're in a meeting.

For it to work:

  • The app must be running

  • Your laptop must be open (not in sleep mode)

  • You must be in the meeting

The app detects when a meeting is active and starts recording automatically. If you leave the meeting or close your laptop, recording stops.

Common recording failure causes

The app wasn't running

The desktop app must be open before the meeting starts.

You weren't authenticated

Make sure you are signed into the desktop app.

You aren't part of an organization

Desktop recording requires an active organization membership.

If your account is not affiliated with a team/org, recording may fail.

Consent was not confirmed

Recording will not start until you check the consent box confirming participants have been notified.

Meeting chat notification settings blocked recording

If automatic chat disclosure is disabled, Fyxer will provide a message for you to paste manually.

Unsupported meeting platform

Only Zoom, Meet, Teams, and Slack (audio-only) are supported today.

How to verify recording is working

  1. Open the Notetaker desktop app

  2. Join a supported call

  3. Confirm the consent checkbox

  4. Look for the floating recording controls

  5. Check your Dashboard → Recorded for the meeting afterward
