Using Fyxer with Outlook: Supported versions and best settings

Updated yesterday

Fyxer works across most versions of Outlook, but performance depends on which version you're using.

Supported Outlook Versions

Best performance:

  • Outlook Web (Browser-based) – Highly recommended

  • New Outlook for Mac or Windows – Stable and reliable

  • Outlook Desktop (Mac) – Fully supported

Functional but less reliable:

  • Classic Outlook (Legacy Desktop for Windows) – Works for some features, but can be less stable

Not supported:

  • Apple Mail (macOS/iOS Mail app)

  • Third-party clients (e.g. Thunderbird, Notion Mail, Spark, Superhuman)

  • On-premise or hybrid Exchange servers (limited API support)

💡 Tip: If you're unsure which version you're running, try switching to Outlook Web for the smoothest experience.

Recommended Settings

Update these settings to get the most out of Fyxer's email categorization and drafts.

1. Outlook Desktop (Mac)

Where to find this: Outlook → View → "Show as conversations"

  • Show email grouped by conversation

  • Automatically expand conversations

  • Show sent messages in conversation

  • Turn off Focused Inbox

2. Outlook Web & New Outlook (Windows/Mac)

Where to find this: Settings → Mail → Layout → Message Organization

  • Turn off Focused Inbox for clearer visibility of categories

  • Enable Group messages by conversation

  • Set newest messages on top

  • Hide deleted items for cleaner threads

3. Classic Outlook (Windows – Legacy Version)

Note: Not recommended, but functional if needed.

Where to find this: View → "Arrange by" and "Show as conversations"

  • Turn off Focused Inbox for clearer visibility of categories

  • Enable Show as conversations

  • Set newest messages on top

  • Hide deleted items for cleaner threads

Troubleshooting & Tips

  • If Fyxer's categories don't appear, check that Conversation View is turned on.

  • For duplicate or reappearing archived emails, make sure you've disabled Focused Inbox.

  • If performance is inconsistent, switch to Outlook Web for best results.
