Fyxer automatically generates draft replies for emails labeled To do.
If a draft didn't appear, or appears blank, use the guide below to diagnose and fix the issue quickly.
Quick checks
1. Are draft replies turned on?
1. Are draft replies turned on?
Go to Dashboard → Drafts → General
Under Drafts settings, check Enable draft replies is on
Drafts will not generate if this setting is turned off.
2. Is the email correctly labeled?
2. Is the email correctly labeled?
Drafts only appear for emails labeled To do, where a response is expected.
If the thread was incorrectly labeled, for example as FYI, and you manually moved it to To do, a draft would not be automatically triggered. If there are certain emails you always want a draft for, consider adding custom rules.
Learn more: Setting up custom rules in Fyxer.
If Fyxer has not labeled the thread at all, check that categorization is enabled in Dashboard → Categorization → Advanced → Enable categorization.
3. Are your email and calendar connected?
3. Are your email and calendar connected?
Your email and calendar are connected separately, and you'll need your calendar to be connected for meeting-related drafts.
To check both are connected, go to Dashboard → Settings → Integrations.
If needed, you can disconnect and reconnect both here. Make sure you select "Keep Fyxer folders and labels" when prompted. Then:
Log out of your email client
Reconnect your email and calendar in the Dashboard
Log back in to your mailbox
This refreshes permissions while retaining all folders.
Recently changed your password or moved to a new domain? This can silently disconnect your integration, even if it appears connected. If so, disconnect and reconnect your account as above.
4. Is conversation view enabled?
4. Is conversation view enabled?
Fyxer drafts work best with threaded messages. If conversation view is off:
Drafts may appear "lost" or blank
Drafts may only show in your Drafts folder
Draft generation may fail entirely
Turn on conversation view:
Gmail: Settings → General → Conversation View → On
Outlook: View → Show as Conversations → On
Learn more: Turn on conversation view.
5. Are filters, snooze, or archive rules interfering?
5. Are filters, snooze, or archive rules interfering?
Drafts will not generate if the email is:
Snoozed
Archived
Auto-moved out of the inbox before Fyxer sees it
Gmail/Outlook rules can also cause delays, but Fyxer will still try to draft once the email is visible in the account.
6. Drafts only appear for new emails
6. Drafts only appear for new emails
Drafts begin generating after you enable Draft replies, not for emails that were there before you connected Fyxer.
Emails processed during the first setup scan (last ~300 emails) will not retroactively generate drafts.
7. Do you have an active subscription?
7. Do you have an active subscription?
If your trial has ended, or your subscription hasn't synced correctly after payment, drafts will stop generating. Check your plan status at Dashboard → Settings → Billing. If anything looks wrong, contact us using the chat feature on the bottom right.
Where to check for drafts
Drafts may appear in slightly different places depending on your settings.
When conversation view is on:
Drafts appear inside the email thread within the To do folder, and
In your drafts folder
When conversation view is off:
Drafts appear in the drafts folder, but
May not appear in the correct thread
Common reasons Fyxer skips a draft
Even if an email is labeled To do, Fyxer may intentionally skip drafting when:
1. The message is automated or transactional
1. The message is automated or transactional
Examples:
Calendar invites
Form submissions
System alerts
Receipts and confirmations
Security notifications
Drafts are designed for human-like email exchanges, not automated content.
2. The message has no actionable request
2. The message has no actionable request
If the email contains no question, task, or decision point, Fyxer may skip drafting.
3. Draft frequency is set too low
3. Draft frequency is set too low
If drafts are too sparse, go to Dashboard → Drafts → General → Response style and adjust your response frequency.
4. Thread complexity or missing context
4. Thread complexity or missing context
Examples:
You were only CC'd
The message is too short
The thread is extremely long
You replied before Fyxer had a chance to draft
Want a draft anyway?
If Fyxer skipped drafting, there are two ways to manually request drafts:
Forward the email to [email protected] with the word "draft" in the message body
Use Fyxer Chat to ask for an email from scratch. Go to Dashboard → Chat and tell Fyxer what you need
With both options, you can include helpful instructions for tone (e.g. "polite but firm"), context, or key points.
Within a few moments, a draft will appear in your drafts folder.
