What happens to Fyxer folders, labels and categories after disconnecting?

Whether you're doing a reconnect or leaving for good, here's what to expect – and what to do if things don't clear up on their own.

Updated today

When you disconnect Fyxer, it removes the folders, labels, and categories it created. In most cases, this happens automatically. If something gets stuck, follow the steps below.

Gmail

Fyxer cleans up its labels automatically when you disconnect or reconnect – you don't need to delete anything manually.

If old labels are still showing, this could mean the disconnect didn't complete cleanly. You can safely delete those labels directly from Gmail. If they persist after that, clear your browser cache, then sign out and back into Gmail to refresh your account.

Outlook

Disconnecting removes all Fyxer-created folders and custom categories.

Outlook Web always reflects the current state, so if folders or categories have disappeared there but are still showing in the desktop app, they've already been deleted. The desktop app is just holding a cached version.

This usually resolves itself over time or after a restart. If folders or categories remain stuck in the desktop app, clear your Outlook desktop cache through your cache settings.

Greyed-out categories on older emails

If a category still appears in grey on older emails, it's been deleted from your category list but is still tagged to those messages. To remove it fully, clear the category manually from the affected emails.

Still having issues? Try these general steps

If the platform-specific steps above haven't resolved things, run through the following:

  1. Sign out of your email app and clear your browser or app cache, then sign back in

  2. Confirm the Fyxer integration has been fully removed from your email account settings. If it's still connected, manually disconnect Fyxer

  3. Once disconnected, if default settings do not appear immediately:

    • Clear browser data

    • Sign out of your email and log back in to refresh your account settings

Before you delete any folders manually

Move any important emails out first. Deleting a folder can delete its contents too.
