Control the Notetaker during a meeting

How to stop, remove, or control the Notetaker during a live meeting - including using @fyxer stop in meeting chat.

Updated over a month ago

You can control the Fyxer Meeting Notetaker at any time during a live meeting. This includes stopping recording, removing the Notetaker, or inviting it manually. All participants - not just hosts - have control, so meetings remain flexible and private when needed.

Invite the Notetaker Manually

If the Notetaker isn't set to join automatically, you can add it yourself.

How to invite it:

  1. Open the Dashboard

  2. Go to Meetings → Upcoming

  3. Select the meeting

  4. Toggle Notetaker: On

The Notetaker will join using the meeting link in the event.

Stop the Notetaker Using In-Meeting Chat (@fyxer stop)

You can stop the Notetaker instantly from inside the meeting - no dashboard required.

How to stop it:

  1. Open the meeting's chat

  2. Type: @fyxer stop

  3. Click send

The Notetaker will immediately:

  • Stop recording

  • End transcription

  • Leave the meeting

Who can use this command?

Any participant, not just the host. This ensures anyone can protect confidentiality during sensitive or private discussions.

Important note:

The @fyxer stop command only works for:

  • Newly created meetings

  • Recurring meetings created after the feature was released

If a recurring meeting was created before this feature existed, you may need to recreate it to enable chat commands.

Remove the Notetaker from the Participant List

If you prefer to remove it directly from your meeting platform:

Zoom, Teams, or Google Meet:

  1. Open the Participant List

  2. Select the Fyxer Notetaker

  3. Click Remove

Removing the Notetaker ends all recording and transcription for the rest of the call.

Disable the Notetaker Mid-Meeting (Dashboard Control)

You can also stop the Notetaker from the dashboard.

How to disable it:

  1. Go to Dashboard → Meetings → Upcoming

  2. Select the active meeting

  3. Toggle Notetaker: Off

This prevents the Notetaker from rejoining - even if someone tries to reinvite it.

What Happens After You Stop the Notetaker

Once the Notetaker stops (via chat command, removal, or toggling off):

Fyxer will still generate:

  • Any available recording (up to the moment it stopped)

  • A partial or full transcript

  • A summary based only on the portion captured

All materials appear in: Dashboard → Meetings → Recordings

If the Notetaker stops early, the summary reflects only what was recorded.
