Control the Notetaker during a meeting

How to stop, remove, or control the Fyxer Notetaker during a live meeting

Updated this week

You can control the Fyxer Meeting Notetaker at any time while a meeting is in progress. This includes manually inviting it, removing it, stopping recording, or using in-meeting chat commands.

These tools give all participants - not just hosts - more flexibility and control, especially during sensitive or private discussions.

Invite the Notetaker Manually

If the Notetaker is not set to join automatically, you can add it to a meeting yourself.

  1. Go to Dashboard → Meetings → Upcoming

  2. Select the meeting

  3. Toggle Notetaker: On

The Notetaker will join using the meeting link included in the event.

Stop the Notetaker Using In-Meeting Chat

You can now stop the Notetaker directly from the meeting's chat using a simple command.

To stop the Notetaker immediately:

  1. Open the meeting's chat window

  2. Type: @fyxer stop

  3. Send the message

The Notetaker will:

  • Stop recording

  • End transcription

  • Leave the meeting immediately

Who can use this command?
Any participant can use @fyxer stop - not just the meeting host.

This ensures everyone has control during private or sensitive discussions.

In-meeting chat commands apply to new calendar events created after this release. Recurring meetings created before the update will not include this functionality automatically.

Remove the Notetaker from the Participant List

If you prefer to remove it through the meeting platform instead of chat:

  1. Open the participant list in Zoom/Teams/Meet

  2. Select the Fyxer Notetaker participant

  3. Choose Remove

This ends transcription and recording for the remainder of the session.

Disable the Notetaker Mid-Meeting (Dashboard Control)

You can also disable it from your Fyxer dashboard.

  1. Go to Dashboard → Meetings → Upcoming

  2. Select the active session

  3. Toggle the Notetaker to Off

This prevents it from rejoining, even if others attempt to reinvite it.

After the Meeting Ends

When the meeting finishes (or when the Notetaker is stopped), Fyxer will process:

  • Any captured recording

  • Transcript (partial or full, depending on when stopped)

  • Summary and extracted action items

All materials will appear in Dashboard → Meetings → Recordings.

If the Notetaker was stopped early, the summary may reflect only the portion recorded.
