Your new organized inbox, explained

Prioritize which emails you see.

Updated over a week ago

Once your inbox is connected, Fyxer sorts incoming emails into smart categories, so you can focus on what actually needs your attention. Here are some tips on how to organize these.

The two most important categories

You can decide which category of email shows in your inbox and which get filed away.

Most users keep the following two categories visible because they represent the messages that matter most day-to-day:

1. To do

Emails that need your reply, plus urgent emails that don't need your reply, but may require another action.

Fyxer will automatically create a draft for any email here that needs a response.

2. FYI

Important updates you should read, but don't need to respond to.

Keeping just these two visible is a popular setup as it's an easy way to see what needs action and what you should be aware of.

Everything else gets organized behind the scenes

Fyxer keeps your inbox focused by organizing lower-priority emails automatically, without hiding anything from you.

In DashboardCategorization, you'll see two columns that control how emails are handled.

Move these out of my inbox

When a category is toggled ON here, emails are organized into their own folder/label instead of staying in your main inbox.

You may want to move these out of your inbox:

  • To follow up: emails where you're waiting on someone else

  • Notification: automated system or tool alerts

  • Marketing: sales and marketing emails

These emails are still accessible – moving them out of your inbox just means they're kept out of your primary view.

There are also more granular topics-based categories such as comments, meeting updates, newsletters, order notifications and promotions. You can also toggle these on or off.

Keep these in my inbox

When a category is toggled OFF, emails in that category stay visible in your main inbox.

This is useful if you want to:

  • Keep certain notifications front-and-center

  • Maintain visibility over specific types of messages

  • Ease into categorization gradually

How the toggles work

  • Toggle ON → email is organized into its category folder

  • Toggle OFF → email is labeled but stays in your main inbox

You can change these settings anytime.

Gmail and Outlook display folders/labels differently, so your categorized inbox will look slightly different depending on the email client you use.

Want to test your new system?

Send yourself (or ask a colleague to send you):

  • A question → goes to "To do" and you'll see a drafted reply appear automatically

  • A neutral update → goes to "FYI"

  • A calendar invite → goes to "Meeting update"

Nothing is ever lost or hidden

Fyxer never deletes, archives, or hides emails. You can always find every message by:

  • Opening its category folder/label

  • Using your email client's search

  • Viewing the message in the original thread

  • Checking the "All Mail" folder in Gmail

If something appears to "move" it's because the category you selected is toggled ON for automatic filing.
